Guggenheim-Bilbao Museum

The Guggenheim-Bilbao Museum is a museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian American architect Frank Gehry, and built alongside the Nervión River, which runs through the city of Bilbao, Spain.

The Challenge

Since its opening, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has included an audioguide at the entrance to offer visitors a unique and enriching experience. The Museum wanted to offer its visitors a new digital solution and to understand their visitor’s behaviours in more detail.

The Solution

After a public bidding process, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao selected the EasyGuide digital solution by MuseumMate to provide the audio guide for the permanent collection and the various temporary exhibitions held throughout the year through the visitor’s own smartphone.

The functionality, versatility, and technical features of the EasyGuide Visitor Assistant enables visitors to enjoy a wide variety of content directly on their smartphone.

The EasyGuide Visitor Analytics is a high-performance tool which enabled the museum technicians and managers to have the information needed for decision-making by obtaining integrated data on visitors, movements, habits, and preferences before, during, and after the visit.

The Result

EasyGuide is the first unconventional, forward-looking audio guide that meets the new needs of the museum and its visitors. In addition to the contents for the Permanent Collection, EasyGuide enables the museum to include content from their temporary exhibitions with ease, thus continuing as an emblem of the city and international culture.
